Jaded Issue #1
I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, training in women’s functional and integrative medicine. I do know a good amount of information…But most importantly? I’m a woman. I live this. I’ve felt the highs, the lows, and the straight-up confusion of it all.
Even with all my education and training, I still get drowned in the non-stop health trends, wellness “musts,” and new miracle supplements every other day. It’s exhausting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Knowledge is powerful, can’t deny that, but overload? That just leaves you anxious, second-guessing yourself, and stuck wondering what’s actually worth your time…and also, if you’re somehow ruining your life because you had a cocktail at dinner.
Here’s the thing: most of that noise isn’t made for you. It’s made to sell to you. And if you don’t know how to filter it, you’ll be chasing every single new thing instead of actually tuning into your own body.
So that is why I’m making this post… to help you cut the crap, keep what serves you, and toss the rest in the trash where it belongs. This is about learning you and trusting you. No more chasing every headline or trend.
Ok here we go…
Step 1: Filter Your Sources
There are way too many people online spewing “health advice” with zero actual qualifications…to keep it blunt. Just because someone has a trendy reel with a pretty background doesn’t mean they know what they’re talking about. The noise is endless and overwhelming and exhausting and confusing and most of the time false.
So here’s what you do: pick 2–5 people you genuinely trust, who are accredited or qualified, and stick with them. That’s it. No more endless scrolling through 500 “experts” contradicting each other. It’s not worth your time.
Step 2: Decide What Actually Matters to You
This one’s huge. If you love making a cocktail when you host your friends, stop following people who scream that a single drop of alcohol is destroying your life. Like… relax. I’m all about living for love, not fear. Yes, excess can be harmful…but if that’s not your reality, enjoy yourself.
These people don’t know you, they only know their beliefs. You don’t have to make them yours or live by them.
Step 3: Learn Yourself — Seriously
This is the most important step. Point blank period. How can you know what works for you if you don’t even know yourself? Take one month, for women, ideally one full cycle, and track everything. Energy levels, hunger, stress, emotions, cravings, even body aches. Write it down. Notice patterns. Learn your body.
The deeper you connect to yourself, the less likely you’ll be swayed by every new “miracle hack” on your feed. You’re the only one living in your body.
With all of this being said here are my top 3 health/wellness women to follow on social media:
- Aviva Romm MD- Women’s Integrative Medicine : I am doing my training through her course and everything is made by woman, for woman.
- Olivia Amitrano- also known as Organic Olivia. She’s an herbalist, artist, and women’s health enthusiast. She also has wonderful, deep, and meaningful conversations on her podcast. Give it a listen.
- Dr. Tara Swar- she’s a neuroscientist, MD, and Author. Her page is a guide to all thing about mind, body, and spiritual health with phenomenal conversations with highly educated people.
I hope you took at least something away from this.
xoxo
